I'm not certain you need to, but I would download and install SP3. Helpful answers Drop Down menu. Agfa SnapScan p Flatbed VueScan from Hamrick software handles an incredible number of scanners. After a restart it shows up in Image Capture after a 10 s delay where I can make basic settings and visualy chose the scan area so there is no need to install additional software.

I also unchecked the drivers I don't need in the pref pane but I'm not sure if that really had any affect on performance.

The message could be a result of you selecting the wrong file format when scanning or the drivers you downloaded are too old and incompatible with your Mac - even if you are running Tiger.

First I installed libusb. If you're going to pay, I think this is the way to go.
